Privacy Policy
Effective date: March 30, 2022
Carlo Treviso (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates carlotreviso.com (the “Site”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and retain personal information through the Site and related communications.
1. INFORMATION WE COLLECT
Information you provide. We collect information you submit through our contact forms, newsletter subscription forms, or related communications. This may include your first and last name, email address, telephone number, and message contents.
Information collected automatically. Wix and any analytics or embedded services identified below may collect your IP address, browser and device information, approximate location derived from your IP address, referring webpages, pages viewed, interactions with the Site, and visit dates and times. Cookies and similar technologies may be used for these purposes.
Please do not submit sensitive information, such as Social Security numbers, financial account details, or medical information, through our general contact forms.
2. HOW WE USE INFORMATION
We use personal information to:
• Respond to inquiries and communicate about requests, books, speaking engagements, or other matters you raise with us.
• Send author news, book announcements, event information, and promotional emails when you subscribe or otherwise opt in.
• Operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Site and understand how it is used.
• Maintain communication preferences and records needed to honor privacy requests.
• Prevent spam, fraud, and misuse, comply with applicable legal obligations, and establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
Submitting a general contact form does not automatically subscribe you to a promotional email list.
3. EMAIL AND TELEPHONE COMMUNICATIONS
You may unsubscribe from any promotional emails using the unsubscribe link in those emails. Unsubscribing from promotional emails does not prevent us from responding to a request you initiate or sending necessary nonpromotional communications.
If you provide a telephone number in connection with an inquiry, we may use it to respond to that inquiry. We do not use the telephone numbers collected through the Site to send marketing text messages or make promotional calls.
Providing a telephone number or acknowledging this Privacy Policy does not, by itself, constitute consent to receive marketing calls or text messages.
4. HOW WE DISCLOSE INFORMATION
Service providers. We disclose information to providers that help us operate the Site and related communications, such as website hosting, form processing, contact management, email delivery, analytics, and technical support. They receive information as needed to perform the relevant services, subject to applicable contractual and legal restrictions.
Our current providers and their functions are:
• Wix — website hosting and contact-management.
Legal and safety purposes. We may disclose information when required by law or legal process, or when reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, or security; investigate suspected misconduct; or establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
Business transfers. Information may be disclosed as part of a proposed or completed sale, reorganization, or transfer of the business or assets associated with the Site, subject to applicable law.
At your direction. We may disclose information when you request or authorize us to do so.
We do not sell or rent personal information, disclose it to third parties for their own direct marketing, or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
5. WIX HOSTING AND INTERNATIONAL PROCESSING
The Site is hosted on Wix. Information submitted through the Site may be stored and processed using Wix’s systems and those of its service providers. Wix describes its privacy practices at https://www.wix.com/about/privacy.
We operate in the United States. Wix and other providers may process information in the United States and other countries, where privacy laws may differ from those in your location.
6. COOKIES AND ONLINE TRACKING
The Site uses cookies and similar technologies to support essential functions and security.
You can use your browser settings to block or delete cookies, although some Site features may not function properly.
Where applicable law requires recognition of opt-out preference signals, such as Global Privacy Control, we honor those requirements.
7. HOW LONG WE KEEP INFORMATION
We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy. We consider the nature of the information, the reason it was collected, our ongoing relationship with you, and applicable legal, recordkeeping, security, and dispute-resolution needs.
When you unsubscribe from promotional emails, we may retain limited information needed to record and honor your opt-out. Unsubscribing does not automatically delete all records of earlier inquiries or other interactions.
8. SECURITY
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information. No method of internet transmission or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. YOUR CHOICES AND PRIVACY REQUESTS
You may contact us via our contact form to ask about your information, request a correction or deletion, or change communication preferences.
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have additional rights, including access to or a copy of your information, portability, correction, deletion, restriction of or objection to certain processing, withdrawal of consent, or opting out of certain uses or disclosures.
We respond as required by applicable law. We may request information reasonably necessary to verify your identity where permitted. Some information may be retained when legally required or permitted. Where applicable, you may appeal a denied request by contacting us, or complain to the relevant privacy regulator. We will not unlawfully discriminate against you for exercising privacy rights.
10. CHILDREN’S PRIVACY
The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child under 13 has provided information through the Site, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate steps, including deletion where required.
11. THIRD-PARTY WEBSITES
The Site may link to book retailers, social platforms, newsletter platforms, or other third-party websites. Their information practices are governed by their own privacy policies. This Policy does not govern their independent collection or use of information.
12. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
We may update this Policy to reflect changes in our practices or applicable requirements. We will post the revised version here and update the “Last updated” date. For material changes, we will provide any additional notice or obtain any consent required by applicable law.
